Trio of former UTSA standouts set for postseason all-star events

SAN ANTONIO — Former UTSA standouts Shad Banks Jr., Robert Henry Jr. and Kamar Missouri are set to appear in various postseason all-star events this month.

Banks, a first-team all-conference linebacker in 2025, will play in the Hula Bowl, which is set for 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in Deland, Florida. That game will be televised by CBS Sports Network.

Missouri, a two-year starter at left tackle for the Roadrunners, will participate in the College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium, which will be held on Friday-Sunday, Jan. 9-11, in Fort Worth, Texas. The three-day event showcases players through practices and a controlled scrimmage with professional coaches in front of scouts from the NFL and other professional leagues.

Banks will continue his postseason circuit with The American Bowl. Following several days of testing and practice in Orlando, that game will kick off at 7 p.m. CT at Victory Stadium in Lakeland, Florida, and it will be televised on NFL Network.

Henry, a first-team all-conference running back last season, recently accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl. Players will report by Jan. 22 and participate in practices leading up to the game, which is slated for an NFL Network broadcast starting at 6 pm. on Jan. 27, at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Banks paced the Roadrunners in several defensive categories in his first and only season at UTSA. The North Shore High School product and TCU transfer registered team highs with 94 total tackles, 56 solo stops, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries. He added 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, a pair of quarterback hurries and one forced fumble en route to being named to the All-American Conference First Team. He logged three games with double-digit tackles including a season-high 11 in the 17-16 road triumph over Colorado State.

Missouri recently wrapped up his collegiate career by helping lead UTSA to its third consecutive bowl victory, a 57-20 rout of FIU in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl in Dallas. The Baltimore, Maryland, native and Rutgers transfer started all 13 contests at left tackle, helping the Roadrunners rack up 462 points and 5,444 yards of total offense, including 3,219 passing and 2,225 rushing. According to Pro Football Focus, Missouri allowed only three sacks and four hits on the quarterback in 486 pass-blocking snaps this past season.

Henry became the third Roadrunner to crack the 1,000-yard barrier on the ground this past fall, rushing for 1,045 yards and nine touchdowns on 151 attempts, good for an average of 6.9 yards per carry. The Lumberton, Mississippi, native posted five 100-yard games in 2025 highlighted by a season-high 177 on only 16 totes against eventual College Football Playoff participant Texas A&M. Despite missing two games due to an injury, he also had six plays from scrimmage of 70-plus yards, including five rushes, last season. His 1,045-yard output puts him third on UTSA’s single-season list.
