The Roadrunners (6-6, 1-0 American) opened American play with a thrilling 65-63 victory over Tulane at the Convocation Center and will look to keep the momentum going against the Owls (6-6, 0-0 American).
Senior Ereauna Hardaway led the way with 16 points, seven assists, five rebounds and a steal in the win over the Green Wave. Junior Cheyenne Rowe posted her second double-double of the season, scoring 13 and securing 12 boards, while freshman Adriana Robles charted 11 points and junior Jayda Holiman 10. As a team, UTSA hauled in 24 more rebounds than its opposition, scored seven more points on the break, and six more on second chances in a bout that featured 19 lead changes.
Temple has yet to open conference play, and nobody who’s traveled to the Liacouras Center has left victorious as the Owls are 5-0 at home across the campaign. They last fell to Princeton on Dec. 22, 87-77, just days after a 59-39 thrashing of Coppin State.
Kaylah Turner provides the bulk of the offense for Temple, averaging 17.8 points per game at a 45.0% clip, with Jaleesa Molina (10.2) and Tristen Taylor (10.1) joining her in the double-digit scoring club. Turner isn’t afraid to shoot from beyond the arc, with 3.33 three-point makes per game, sitting third across the NCAA. She has gone 40-of-64 across the season, for the 13th-most makes, and 46.0% from range is 20th. Additionally, Turner's scoring output paces the American entering conference play.
Molina tops the conference and ranks 24th nationally with five double-doubles on the year. She posts 8.4 rebounds per game, which ranks second on the team behind Saniyah Craig, who leads with 8.9.
