COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UTSA men’s tennis team opened the 2026 season on Saturday, falling to No. 13 Texas A&M, 7-0, at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies started things off hot with the tandem of Kholo Montsi and Togan Tokac taking down sophomores Oskar Grzegorzewski and Ben Chetewy Ungar 6-2, ahead of Ritesh Patil and Tiago Pires besting freshmen tandem Maximilian Ontiveros and Yonatan Sagiv, 6-3 in doubles action.
In singles play, Krish Tyagi defeated newcomer Constantin Radu, 6-1, 6-2 in the fifth flight, and Pires blanked Chetewy Ungrar in the third, 6-0, 6-0, for a 3-0 Aggie lead. Patil then cemented the victory for Texas A&M via a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ontiveros on court six.
Rounding things out, Togan Tokac got the better of freshman Timeo Bretin, 6-2, 6-1 across the fourth flight, before No. 73 Alex Frusina topped Grzegorzewski, 6-4, 6-3 in the first, and No. 112 Kholo Montsi bested sophomore Enzo Vargas, 6-2, 6-4 in the second to secure a sweep.
UTSA will look to bounce back on Tuesday, with a match against Arizona State in Tempe, ahead of a Wednesday bout with Grand Canyon in Phoenix.
