HOUSTON – The UTSA men’s tennis team (7-10) was unable to capture it first victory of the weekend on Saturday at Rice’s George R. Brown Tennis Center. The Roadrunners fell to the Charlotte 49ers (10-9), 4-2, in straight singles play after the match time was moved up due to weather, also skipping doubles play.
With no doubles play, the first win went to Charlotte and Ivan Dreycopp on court three. However, Tiago Torres was quick to respond, registering 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 victory over Vasco Prata to even the margin. Matias Iturbe edged out a win on two and the 49ers claimed the lead for good, following up with wins on five and six. Enzo Vargas notched one final point for the Roadrunners, besting Frederic Schlossmann on four, 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-1, closing out the match in a 4-2 Charlotte win.
