SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team (11-10) wrapped up the 2025 regular season at home on Sunday afternoon with its fourth consecutive victory. The Roadrunners celebrated seniors Miguel Alonso, Danijal Muminovic and Tiago Torres at the intermission and the trio led UTSA to a 5-2 victory over Grand Canyon (12-6) at UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners rolled in doubles play and it looked like the momentum was all heading UTSA’s direction. Oskar Grzegorzewski and Ben Chetewy Ungar got things moving with a 6-1 victory over Jonathan Da Silva and Brice Patoux on court one, while Alonso and Muminovic followed by just moments with the clinching victory on court three, besting Andreas Loizas and Paolo Rosati, 6-4.
Following the senior ceremony, the Lopes proved much more challenging in singles play, as Grand Canyon took early leads on multiple courts. However, UTSA regained the upper hand and earned four first-set victories to clear a path for the win. The Lopes evened the score on court four at 1-1, but Muminovic was quick to push the Roadrunners back in front with a 7-5, 6-3 court-two besting of Patoux. Grzegorzewski followed up with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Loizas and Torres clinched the match for the Roadrunners, going 6-4, 6-3 past Nikita Volonski on the top flight. Alonso delivered the final UTSA score in the 5-2 win, outlasting Diordan Macababbad in a second-set tiebreaker for the 6-2 7-6 (6) win on court six.
