SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is headed for Waco, Texas, where they'll meet No. 14/15 Baylor on Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Foster Pavilion.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Lincoln Rose (play-by-play and Jordan Lewis (analyst) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (3-4, 0-0 American) are looking to bounce back after dropping a 66-39 contest against UNLV on Wednesday that snapped a program-record 17-game home winning streak that dated back to Feb. 25, 2024.
The Bears (8-1, 0-0 Big 12) have been one of the most dominant teams in women's basketball across nonconference play, with a lone loss coming at the hands of then-No. 19 Iowa at a neutral site. They rank inside the top-25 nationally in several categories, including blocks per game (2nd – 8.0), field goal percentage defense (5th – 30.7%), defensive rebounds per game (11th – 31.0) and three-point percentage defense (15th – 23.3%).
Taliah Scott paces the offense with 23.7 points per game, slotting her seventh in the NCAA. She also checks in at third with 63 made free throws, and is 20th, sinking 26 triples across the campaign. Kiersten Johnson has played a significant role in their defensive success with 25 blocks on the year, slotting her seventh. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs is seventh in rebounds with 98 and 15th in double-doubles with four. Additionally, Jana Van Gytenbeek's 3.18 assists per game rank 15th nationally.
