SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA track and field team will open up 2025-26 competition this weekend at the Biggest Little City Indoor Track in Reno, Nevada, taking a small contingent to compete in the Silver State Invitational and Combined Event. The two-day multi-event competition is set to run Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4-5 with six Roadrunners in action.
With six Roadrunners en route to Reno, the most experienced of the party is junior Edlin Laur, competing in the pentathlon. Laur was 11th at last year’s American Indoor Championships, reaching 3,580 points last season, and is one of UTSA’s historic best high jumpers. Joining her in the pent are freshmen Anna Hofmane and Sunniva Indahl. With specialties in sprints and jumps, Hofmane is a Latvian U18 heptathlon national champion, while Indahl owns nine Norwegian national titles, including the May 2025 Norwegian U20 title.
On the men’s side, competing in the heptathlon, sophomore Finn O’Neill returns to multi-event action for the Roadrunners after earning ninth at the American Championships in the event as a rookie with 4,556 points. He is joined by freshmen Janre Jögi and Ryan Heeren at Reno’s heptathlon competition. Jogi earned second place at the 2025 Estonian U20 Indoor Championships with a career-best 5,059 points, while Heeren came to UTSA fresh off winning the Dutch U20 Combined Events Championships decathlon at 6,949 points.
Held at the Biggest Little City Indoor Track at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The pentathlon opens at 2 p.m. CT on the women’s 60-meter hurdles, followed by high jump, shot put long jump and the 800-meter on Dec. 4. The men’s heptathlon day 1 begins at 1 p.m. CT on the 60-meter, followed by the long jump, shot put and high jump. Returning to action on Dec. 5, the hept resumes at 12 p.m. CT with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter
Nevada Athletics will generate live stats at the event through RT Sports Timing.
Another group of Roadrunners are set to go to work inside the Lone Star State this week, as a larger contingent will travel to College Station, Texas, for Saturday’s McFerrin 12-Degree Invitational at Texas A&M’s R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track. After this weekend’s competitions, UTSA will resume the indoor season on January 23 at Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational.
