LUBBOCK, Texas––On Thursday, UTSA suffered a 79-52 defeat at the hands of Texas Tech in the 2025-26 season opener at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Roadrunners (0-1, 0-0 The American) fell to the Lady Raiders (2-0, 0-0 Big 12), with junior Idara Udo logging a double-double to the tune of 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Damara Allen and freshman Adriana Robles joined her in logging double-digit points, with Allen scoring 12 and Robles 10 in her collegiate debut. Senior Cheyenne Rowe hauled in seven rebounds, helping UTSA outrebound the opposition, 43-36. In addition to Robles, newcomer Sanaa Bean and junior Jayda Holiman each made their Roadrunner debut.
Udo knocked down a triple to work a 7-7 score line midway through the first frame, ahead of an Allen layup that handed UTSA a slim lead. The Lady Raiders rallied, finishing the quarter on a 10-2 run to capture a 17-11 edge that they carried into the subsequent stanza.
Holiman hit a trey to kick-start the second, sparking a 7-2 surge that pulled the 'Runners within one. TTU responded with six straight, and a later Robles layup worked a 25-22 score line, still favoring the Lady Raiders. Texas Tech finished the half strong, taking a 34-26 lead into the locker room.
The Lady Raiders kept the Roadrunners at arm's length for the majority of the third, with multiple spurts building a 48-33 advantage, ahead of a 51-39 score entering the fourth.
TTU opened the final frame with a 9-2 run and never looked back, cruising to a 79-52 victory.
UTSA will now turn its attention toward Houston, with a contest awaiting at the Fertitta Center on Saturday at 6 p.m.
