SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is set to open the 2025-26 campaign on Thursday, at 6 p.m., with a bout against Texas Tech on the docket at the United Supermarkets Arena.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Ron Thulin (play-by-play) and Rachel Galligan (analyst) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners are coming off a historic campaign that saw a 26-5 record, including an 18-1 mark in American action. They return Preseason All-Conference First-Team selection Idara Udo, who was the top offensive rebounder in the league, with 67 boards across league play, as she secured 7.6 rebounds per game, ranking 9th in the American. She maintained a 73.8% clip from the charity stripe, slotting her eighth on the league leader board and swatted 17 shots for the 14th-most across the league, all while anchoring its top defense.
UTSA ended the 2024-25 campaign with a NET ranking of 66 – the program's highest ranking to conclude a regular season since NET rankings began. UTSA ranked inside the top 25 among the NCAA in several categories, sitting ninth in rebound margin (9.4), 11th in offensive rebounds per game (15.8), 12th in winning percentage (.897), 22nd in scoring defense (55.9), 23rd in rebounds per game (40.7) and 24th in field goal percentage defense (36.8).
The Lady Raiders (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) kick-started their season on Monday, taking down North Carolina A&T, 78-40. Five different squad members recorded double-digit scoring figures, led by Jalynn Bristow, who tallied 19 points, going 7-for-13 from the field. Gemma Nunez and Snudda Collins each logged 15, while Bailey Maupin charted 11 to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.
