DALLAS — UTSA senior running back Robert Henry Jr. has earned a spot on the Doak Walker Award semifinalist list, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Tuesday.
Henry is one of 10 semifinalists for the award that is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding college running back. He joins two-time semifinalist Sincere McCormick (2020, 2021) as the only Roadrunners to be chosen as Doak Walker Award semifinalists.
Henry has rushed for 983 yards and nine touchdowns on 138 carries this season, good for an average of 7.1 yards per carry. He also has caught 17 passes for 112 yards and a pair of scores, giving him 1,095 all-purpose yards in 2025. He has logged five 100-yard rushing games and six plays from scrimmage of 70-or-more yards, including five runs.
A native of Lumberton, Mississippi, Henry opened the campaign by piling up 177 yards and two TDs on just 16 attempts in the opener against the Aggies, an average of 11.1 yards per tote. He tallied 159 yards and two rushing touchdowns to go with a 4-yard receiving TD against Texas State before totaling 144 rushing yards in each of the wins against UIW and Colorado State. He went for 138 yards and a score on just a dozen attempts against North Texas before piling up 87 yards in the win over Tulane.
Back for his third year as a Roadrunner thanks to a recent NCAA waiver for JUCO players, Henry has rushed for 2,277 yards and 27 TDs — both which place him third on UTSA’s career lists — in 34 career contests with UTSA. His current 5.8 yards-per-rush average is the best in UTSA history.
Three finalists for the Doak Walker Award will be announced Nov. 25, and the winner will be unveiled live on ESPN during The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12. The formal presentation of the award will take place at the annual banquet on Jan. 30, 2026, in Dallas.
