Allette named American Preseason All-Conference Second Team

IRVING, Texas – Ahead of next week’s American Conference Media Day in Birmingham, Alabama, officials from the league office announced on Thursday that junior guard Vasean Allette has been selected to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team. In addition, the Roadrunners were picked at 11th in the 2025-26 Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

A transfer from TCU originally from Scarborough, Ontario, Allette recently proved himself once again on the international stage as a member of Team Canada’s U23 national team during GLOBL JAM 2025 in Toronto. Playing in all three games with two wins, he averaged 8.7 ppg on 34.4-percent shooting, also collecting 6.0 rpg with 4.7 apg, highlighted by a 7-point, 10-rebound, 8-assist outing in the win over Georgetown’s Team USA squad. The top-ranked Canadian player in the 2023 class, Allette also previously earned All-Tournament “All-Star Five” honors while leading Canada to the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championships bronze medal with 18.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest.

Allette arrived at UTSA this summer with 51 games of NCAA Division I experience, including 25 starts in 32 appearances during last year’s sophomore campaign at TCU. For the Horned Frogs in 2024-25, Allette racked up a team-high 143 field goals, averaging 11.4 points for second on the team with 17 games in double figures. He was TCU’s assists leader at 3.5 per game and topped the squad in assists across 19 of the final 21 games – including eight straight to close the season. He also chipped in 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals on average. Allette played his freshman season at Old Dominion with team highs of 17.4 ppg on 45.2-percent shooting, 5.7 rpg, 3.1 apg and 1.8 spg.

The Roadrunners were picked at 11th in the Preseason Coaches Poll, coming off a 12-19 campaign in the first season under Austin Claunch – notching the highest win count since the 2020-21 season and 11 of the losses decided by five points or less despite working with a short bench much of the season. Heading into 2025-26, the Roadrunners’ roster features 11 new players on the squad.

Reigning regular season champions, the Memphis Tigers notched their second tournament title in the past three years and were picked to lead the league in the Preseason Coaches Poll with 11 first-place votes. The South Florida Bulls finished similar to UTSA last year following the tragic passing of coach Amir Abdur-Rahim in October 2024, but are picked second and received two of the first-place votes with a new staff at the helm. Tulane, UAB, Wichita State, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Tulsa, Temple and East Carolina precede UTSA in the poll, while Rice and Charlotte round out the league polling.

In addition to the preseason all-conference teams, the league coaches selected the Preseason award honorees, with Tulane’s Rowan Brumbaugh as Preseason Player of the Year and Florida Atlantic’s Josiah Parker as Preseason Freshman of the Year.
