Schuldt in fifth, Roadrunners eighth after day two of Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Victoria Schuldt is in a tie for fifth place and the UTSA women’s golf team stands eighth after the second day of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Saturday at University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch (par 72/6,622 yards).

Schuldt fired her second straight 2-under-par 70 to position herself in fifth at 4-under 140 with 18 holes left to play. Her red number helped the Roadrunners register a 294 for the second round, putting them at 6-over 582 for the event, six shots ahead of Colorado State and only one back of Tulane and three behind Clemson in the 15-team field.

Schuldt began her second round with six consecutive pars before settling for a bogey on the par-4 seventh. She then moved back to even for the day with a birdie on No. 9 before strolling through the back nine with seven pars to go with a pair of birdies on the 12th and 18th holes. The freshman from Germany now has seven birdies for the weekend and has played the par fives at 5-under par so far.

Kayla Black has a share of 26th at 2-over 146. The freshman from Canada followed a 2-under 70 on Friday with a 76 today that featured back-to-back birdies on Nos. 9-10.

Daniela Abonce is one shot behind Black in a tie for 26th at 3-over 147. The senior from Mexico posted a one-shot improvement from her opening-round 74 with a 73 that included a pair of birdies.

Lauren Rios is tied for 45th with a 5-over 149, as the Coppell, Texas, native carded a 75 today that was highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 fifth.

Sydney Bisgrove rounds out the UTSA lineup in 66th (76-78—154).

Vanderbilt has the team lead at 18-under par behind individual leader Ava Merrill (-7), followed by a tie for second between Colorado and Texas State at 7-under.

The final round is set for Sunday.
