Roadrunners set to travel to Memphis and UAB

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA is set to compete in its first road American weekend as it will travel to Memphis to take on the Memphis Tigers (9-7,1-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse and the UAB Blazers (7-7, 0-2) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Ala.

Both matches will bro broadcast on ESPN+ with Live stats available at utsa.statbroadcast.com.

The Roadrunners opened up conference play with a 3-1 victory over Charlotte and a 2-3 loss to Tulsa. This will be the Roadrunners’ first American Conference road trip of the 2025 season.

Memphis is currently 1-1 in conference matches with a 3-1 win over Tulane and a 0-3 loss to Wichita State. UAB is 0-2 in conference play, falling to Wichita State 1-3 and North Texas 1-3. UAB is set to play Rice on Friday, Oct. 3, in Houston, Texas.

UTSA is 2-1 all-time against the Tigers. The first match that the two teams played each other was in 1999, where the Roadrunners came out victorious in a natural site match, winning 3-1. The Roadrunners won their first road match against Memphis in 2023, 3-1.

The Roadrunners have a 13-5 record against the UAB Blazers. UTSA is 6-1 in matches at the Convocation Center, 5-4 in matches played in Birmingham, Ala. and 2-0 in natural site matches.

With a win this weekend, the Roadrunners will have recorded their best start in American Conference play. UTSA was 0-4 through its first four games in 2024 and they were 1-3 through the first four games of the 2023 campaign, which was UTSA’s inaugural season with The American.
