IRVING, Texas — The American Conference has announced the pairings for the league’s 2026 football schedule, which were unanimously approved by the league’s athletic directors last week.
The 2026 season will once again see all 14 American teams play eight conference games, with four home games and four road dates for each team.
UTSA will host home games against Navy, North Texas, South Florida and Tulsa in 2026.
The Roadrunners are slated for road contests against Florida Atlantic, Rice, Tulane and UAB next year.
UTSA has three nonconference games that have been announced for 2026. The Roadrunners are scheduled for back-to-back road games at Texas State on Sept. 12 and Texas on Sept. 19 before hosting Colorado State on Sept. 26.
The scheduling format fulfills a number of strategic and practical objectives set by the conference. There are no repeat matchups played at the same site from 2025 to 2026, and no team will avoid a particular opponent in consecutive years. Each team will play at least one road game in the Eastern and Central time zones and will have at least one road game in the state of Texas in a two-year span.
The American will continue with a single-division format in 2026. The top two teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the American Championship Game.
The full 2026 conference schedule will be announced in February.
