Roadrunners fall 3-0 to Rice

SAN ANTONIO – The Roadrunners fall to Rice 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21) on Sunday, Oct. 12 at the Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas. There were 1,430 fans in attendance for the highest attendance in the Carol Price-Torok era.

Set One
Rice was able to take a five-point lead in the first half of the first set, being up 13-8 over the Roadrunners. The Owls won the race 20 as they were up by nine over UTSA in the first set. Rice was able to close out the first set, winning 25-13.

Set Two
UTSA was able to take the first point of the set, but the Owls then went on a four-point run to go up 4-1. Rice then went on a 7-2 scoring run to lead UTSA 14-8. The Roadrunners crafted a four-point run to cut the Rice lead to one as they were down by one at 17-16. The Owls won the race to 20 as they were up by two. The Owls won the second set 25-18.

Set Three
The Roadrunners found themselves in a hard-fought match as the match was tied at 11-11. UTSA managed to snap a four-point scoring surge by the Owls to tie the game at 16-16. The Owls won the race to 20, leading the Roadrunners 20-18. Rice was able to close out the win, winning the third set 25-21.

Notes
- There were 1,430 people in attendance, notching the highest attended game in the Price-Torok era.
- Giada Obregon had 17 digs for her 10th double-digit dig game of the season.
- Ally Tribe recorded 11 digs for her 10th double-digit dig game of the season.
- UTSA is now 2-2 when wearing navy.
