IRVING, Texas – Freshman outside hitter, Taylor Gaines, earns freshman player of the week, the American announced on Monday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m.
True freshman Gaines had a breakout week as she tallied the second-most kills on the team with 36 to her name. She notched three kills per set on 88 total attacks for a .250 percentage. Gaines also had eight total blocks, which included one solo block.
Gaines is the first Roadrunner to earn a conference weekly award this season and the third UTSA volleyball player to earn American freshman player of the week, joining the likes of Ally Tribe and Martina Franco, who each won the award in last season’s campaign.
