SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – UTSA closes out the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-17) over Lindenwood on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield, Mo.
Set One
UTSA jumped out to an early 13-4 lead in the first set. Roadrunners held firm to that lead as they continued to dominate, winning the race 20- 9 total points. The Roadrunners continued their dominance, winning the first set 25-13.
Set Two
The second set started with a back-and-forth battle; however, a kill by Taylor Gaines tied the set at 13-13. Lindenwood won the race to 20, being up 20-18 over UTSA. The Roadrunners quickly tied it up at 20-20. Caroline Tredwell iced the set with a kill to go up 2-0 over Lindenwood, winning the second set 25-23.
Set Three
The Roadrunners and Lindenwood went back and forth once again to start the third set. A kill by Gigi Mason propelled the Roadrunners to win the race 20. The kill by Mason started a 6-1 surge, allowing the Roadrunners to sweep Lindenwood, winning the third set 25-17.
Notes
- Tredwell led the team in kills, notching 10, which is her second double-digit kill match of the season.
- UTSA picked up its first sweep of the season in its second win.
- Megan Hawkins led the team in assists with 17.
- Peyton Turner led the team in digs with a total of 14.
