Men take 24th, Women 26th at Gan’s Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The UTSA cross country team wrapped up competition at the Gan’s Creek Classic on Friday, with the men’s team placing 24th, scoring 657 in the Black Invitational 8k, while the women collected 26th with 671 in the Black Invitational 6k.

Freshman Ethan Carranza topped the team for the second consecutive meet, this time clocking in at 25:11.5 en route to 154th, while senior O.J. Ruiz was 168th in 25:20.0.  Newcomer David Zuniga was 179th with a time of 25:27.7, and classmate Austin Lyda was not far behind in 206th at 25:56.7. Freshman Amisadai Yanez was 217th in 26:09.6, with sophomore Diego Ramirez in 242nd at 26:55.9, while newcomer Israel Cuellar rounded things out in 248th with a time of 27:31.2.

On the women’s side, freshman Jocelyn Karry led the way with a 79th-place finish thanks to a time of 22:05.5. Classmate Madison Gilliam followed in 179th at 23:33.5, and junior Jadelyn Malesich in 197th at 23:59.9. Newcomer Annaliese Munoz clocked in at 25:50.9 to take 226th, while senior Savannah Lopez crossed the tape in 26:29.0 for 231st.

Freshman Destiny Duenas (223rd – 27:31.2), classmate Brianna Venegas (34th – 27:39.7) and sophomore Emma Wallace (235th – 28:33.8) were also in action on Friday.
