MADISON, Wis. — Joshua Hong and Logan Zurn are in the top 12 and the UTSA men’s golf team is in seventh place after the first day of the Badger Invitational, which teed off Monday at TPC Wisconsin (par 72/7,272 yards).

Due to weather delays in the morning, the field could not complete the second round today before darkness set in, so play will resume with an 8:45 a.m. restart on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners completed between 10 and 13 holes of round two and are sitting at 1-over par, one shot ahead of VCU and only one behind Xavier in the 14-team field. UTSA registered a 4-over 292 in the first round and is 3-under in the second round.

The freshman from Mexico dipped to 2-under through four holes thanks to birdies on the 551-yard, par-5 second and 396-yard, par-4 fourth holes. He then bounced back from a trio of bogeys with back-to-back circled numbers on Nos. 10-11 before closing out a 34 on the back nine with seven pars.

Before the round was suspended, he made an eagle-three on the 518-yard 10th to get to 2-under for the round and 3-under for the tournament, one stroke out of second place and five back of the day-one leader Bence Kotel of Toledo.

Zurn is part of a six-way deadlock for 12th at 1-under par. He carded an even-par 72 thanks to five birdies, including four as part of a 4-under 32 on the back, going back-to-back on Nos. 10-11 and recording a two on the 206-yard, par-3 14th and a three on the 308-yard, par-4 16th holes.

Zurn is 1-under through 10 holes of the second round, as the senior from Grapevine, Texas, circled his number again on the second and 10th holes as well as on the fourth.
