GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Roadrunners fall to Kent State 3-2 (18-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 15-12) and defeat North Dakota 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-13) on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in Grand Forks, N.D.  

GAME ONE (vs. Kent State)
Set One
Both teams kept it close early in the set as it was tied at 10-10. The Roadrunners were able to go on a five-point surge to go up 17-11 over Kent State. UTSA won the race to 20 thanks to a kill by Ally Tribe. The Roadrunners managed to close the first set out as they won the match 25-18.

Set Two
Kent State took an early lead, going up five points over UTSA. The Golden Eagles won the race 20 leading the Roadrunners 20-11.  They managed to take the match 25-17 as to make the tie the game up at 1-1.

Set Three
UTSA jumped out to an early lead as they went up 11-3 over the Golden Flashes. Kent State was able to claw back to make the set competitive; however, the Roadrunners won the race to 20 with the Golden Flashes trailing by four. Roadrunners held strong winning the third set 25-20.

Set Four
Set four was a hard-fought battle as both teams were tied at 15 points apiece. The Golden Flashes managed to win the race to 20 with the Roadrunners just down by three. A three-point surge put the Golden Flashes up 23-18. UTSA was unable to come back and win the set; therefore, Kent State won 25-20.

Set Five
In the fifth set, both teams kept battling, but a three-point scoring run put Kent State up by four, leading the Roadrunners 13-9. UTSA cut the lead to two points but was unable to complete the comeback, allowing the Golden Flashes to win 15-12.

GAME TWO (at North Dakota)
Set One
UTSA jumped out to an early lead going on a 7-1 scoring run at the beginning of the match. The Roadrunners then ripped off an 8-0 surge to go up 19-6 over the Fighting Hawks. UTSA held strong and managed to take the first set against North Dakota 25-14.

Set Two
The second set went back and forth with both teams trading blows. The Roadrunners were able to win the race 20 thanks to a five-point surge. After a point from North Dakota, UTSA then scored four straight points to get to match point. A kill by Taylor Gaines gave UTSA the 25-18 win.

Set Three
A five-point surge at the start of the third set by the Roadrunners allowed them to jump out to a 10-3 lead.  UTSA kept its foot on the throttle as it managed to score 20 points to the Fighting Hawks’ 10. From there, the Roadrunners outscored North Dakota 5-3, allowing the Roadrunners to win the match 25-13.

Notes
- Tribe picked up her third double-double of the season with 15 kills and 14 digs against Kent State.
- Gaines got her fourth double-digit kill match of the season with 11 kills against Kent State.
- Giada Obregon led the team in digs with 22 for the fourth time this season against Kent State, which tied her career high.
- Setter Ilaria Durante grabbed her third double-double of the season against Kent State, notching 17 assists and 11 digs.
-Megan Hawkins grabbed her second double-double of the season with 10 assists and 14 digs against North Dakota.
- Gaines led the team in kills with 10 against North Dakota for her fifth double-digit kill match of the season.
- Gaines had seven service aces against North Dakota, which ties the program’s 3-set match individual record.
