FARGO, N.D. – UTSA finished up the UND/NDSU Tournament with a 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21) victory over the Idaho Vandals on Friday, Sept. 12, at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse in Fargo, N.D.
Set One
UTSA took an early lead as they ripped off a six-point scoring run to go up 12-7 over the Vandals. The Roadrunners were able to win the race to 20 leading Idaho by five points. The Vandals notched a three-point scoring surge to cut the lead to two points. UTSA answered with a four-point run to be within set point. A kill by Brooke Elliott gave UTSA the 25-19 set one victory.
Set Two
The second set was a closer fight until UTSA was able to score three points unanswered to go up 17-14. The Roadrunners kept their foot on the throttle, ripping off a four-point scoring run to win the second set 25-18.
Set Three
UTSA had an early 7-4 lead in the third set before Idaho was able to come back and take a lead. The Vandals won the race to 20 and managed to close it out thanks to a five-point scoring surge, winning the third set 25-23.
Set Four
The Roadrunners found themselves in yet another hard-fought battle. UTSA was able to pull away when they won the race by 20, being up by three. The Roadrunners managed to close it out thanks to a kill by Ally Tribe, defeating the Vandals 25-21.
Notes
- Tribe recorded 22 kills and 12 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.
- Caroline Tredwell had 12 kills for her second double-digit kill game of the season.
- Taylor Gaines had 11 kills for the sixth double-digit kill game of the season.
- Megan Hawkins grabbed her third double-double with 32 assists and 14 digs.
