Staddon to compete in U20 European Championships

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA track and field sophomore-to-be Charlie Staddon will compete in the hurdles this weekend at the U20 European Athletics Championships, with his event contested Saturday-Sunday at Ratinan Stadion in Tampere, Finland.

Dipping below his UTSA-best in-season 110-meter hurdles clocking of 13.78 at the Mt. SAC Relays this season, Staddon qualified to represent Great Britain at the U20 Championships on a career-best 13.49 time in the final with a silver-medal performance during the UK U20 Championships on June 27 in Birmingham, England. That mark in regular season or championship competition would place him atop the UTSA standards for the event.

A rookie for the Roadrunners out of Bath, England in 2024-25, Staddon finished fifth in the 110m hurdles at the American Outdoor Championships and qualified for the NCAA West First Round in College Station.

This weekend in Finland, Staddon is set to compete in the 110m hurdles opening round at 11:25 a.m. locally (3:25 a.m. CDT) on Saturday, Aug. 9, looking to move ahead to the semifinal on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 11:40 a.m. local (3:40 a.m. CDT) and then Sunday’s evening final at 7:15 p.m. in Finland (11:15 a.m. CDT). European Athletics will have live results to follow along here.
