SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday that the Roadrunners will be bringing another transfer thrower into the 2025-26 squad, adding experienced Sun Belt Conference thrower Lauralyn Clifford to next year’s Roadrunners roster.
"Lauralyn brings a wealth of DI experience in the throws, and the continuous growth in her performances makes her a solid addition to our throws squad,” Fox said.
“We’re excited to get her to San Antonio and get to work taking the next step and helping her reach her academic goals on her Master’s.”
Born in Castries, Saint Lucia, Clifford comes out of Toronto, Ontario by way of her graduate transfer from Coastal Carolina, where she has competed in throws over the past four seasons for the Chanticleers. She is the standing St. Lucia national record holder in the weight throw and hammer throw and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at CCU, in addition to being a Jackson Scholar for the Leadership and Ethics Program and leading an after-school ethics program for middle-schoolers. She was also recognized in February as a nominee for the Allstate NACDA Good Works. Coastal Carolina’s 2025 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Clifford finished seventh in the weight throw last indoor season on a career-best 18.99m (62-3.75) measurement at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships – slotting her at No. 2 all-time in the CCU standards. Hitting a personal-best 56.55m (185-6) in the hammer throw, Clifford placed 10th in the event at the SBC Outdoor Championships during her junior season – moving to No. 4 in CCU’s records. She was also 11th in the event at the meet as a sophomore. At the 2023 SBC Indoors, she finished 10th in the weight throw as well.
Clifford is a graduate of St. Basil-the-Great College School in Toronto, where she was a team MVP and closed out her prep career placing in the top 5 of 11-of-12 indoor and outdoor competitions in 2021. She competed in the shot put at the 2019 Canadian Nationals and placed third in the event at the 2021 Ontario U20 Champions on a toss of 12.15m (40-0). In 2023, Clifford notched a second-place hammer finish at the Canadian Championships in Langley, British Columbia.
