SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Thursday that the Roadrunners will add Kansas State transfer thrower Daisy Monie to the roster this fall ahead of the 2025-26 season.
"Daisy is an exciting competitor to bring to our squad,” Fox said. “She has experience competing on the Big 12 stage and has continued to build better and better marks each year of her career. We can’t wait to get her in the circle and working to reach her next athletic goals and her goals in the classroom.”
Originally from Mission, Texas, Monie competed for the past two seasons in the Big 12 Conference at Kansas State and comes to UTSA as a graduate transfer. Though she didn’t compete outdoors last season, Monie finished in eighth place in the shot put at the Big 12 Indoor Championships and produced the fifth-best K-State shot measurement in February at 16.56m (54-4). During her first season in Manhattan, Monie was fourth at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships on a 16.41m (53-10.25) shot put mark, also earning 12th in the discus 48.67m (153-9) – qualifying for the NCAA West First Round in both events. That outdoor season, Monie hit a new career discus mark at 52.86m (173-5) during the Jim Click Shootout in April, logging K-State’s No. 8 all-time mark.
Monie is no stranger to the American Conference, joining the Wildcats after starting her collegiate career at Houston, where she earned the shot put silver medal in 2023, along with a fourth-place discus toss at the American Outdoor Championships. Her then-PR 15.70 (51-6.25) still ranks fourth in the Houston shot put records. In that indoor season, she was eighth in the American in the shot put. Her rookie campaign produced a ninth-place American outdoor finish in the shot.
A Sharyland Pioneer High School graduate, Monie was the District 31-5A, Area 31-32 and Region IV-5A champion in the discus as a senior with a high school PR of 44.45m (145-10), finishing fourth at the 2021 UIL 5A Track & Field Championships. Monie was also the UIL 5A shot put silver medalist in 2021, earning silver in Region IV after area and district titles – producing a prep-long 14.38m (47-2). She earned region, area and district titles in discus her sophomore year, with area and district shot put crowns that year.
