UTSA men's tennis earns ITA All-Academic, three named ITA Scholar-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the seventh consecutive season, a member of the UTSA men’s tennis team has received national academic honors through Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), with three Roadrunners selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes in Danijal Muminovic, Luke Cantu and Ben Chetewy Ungar. On top of the Roadrunners’ individual honors, the team was recognized among the All-Academic Team honors for the third consecutive season and fourth time in the past six years.

To be eligible for ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes had to have a 3.5+ GPA for the academic year, with the trio appearing among the 994 standout academic performers across NCAA Division I during the 2025 season.

With this honor following his senior campaign, Muminovic (Jr./Tuzla, Bosnia) completed a four-year run receiving association’s highest academic recognition, beginning with his rookie season in 2021-22. Muminovic recorded a 4.0 GPA for the academic year within his Honors College double-major in Business Analytics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, with a minor in Management Science. Muminovic also appeared on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District list for the third consecutive year. A strong four-year leader for the Roadrunners, Muminovic finished with a 3.97 cumulative GPA, as a six-time UTSA President’s List honoree and a three-year team representative on the UTSA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) including the past year as the SAAC Secretary. A member of the rarified UTSA President’s Student Advisory Council for two years, Muminovic wrapped his UTSA tenure with a career spring singles record of 44-27 (.620) after going 12-6 for the Roadrunners in his final campaign.

Cantu (Jr./San Antonio, Texas) produced a strong academic performance in his first year with the squad after transferring from Hardin-Simmons, posting a 3.63 GPA on his Kinesiology major.  Cantu was 1-1 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles action.

Rounding out the trio, Chetewy Ungar (Fr./Adanim, Israel) posted a 3.83 GPA in his first year as a Business major. On the courts, Ungar was 6-10 in doubles play and 4-12 in singles.

As a team, the Roadrunners earned their third consecutive honor and third in the past five years, picking up ITA All-Academic Team accolades among 159 teams receiving the distinction. UTSA finished the year with a team GPA of 3.34.
