AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators organization released its annual Academic All-America Teams this week. Among those named, UTSA track and field sophomore Ida Breigan has earned a spot on the prestigious list, garnering Third Team Academic All-America honors. Breigan is the first to achieve the honor for UTSA since Maddie Boswell in 2022.
A three-time All-American for the Roadrunners hailing from Frederikstad, Norway, Breigan collected the CSC Academic All-District and All-America honors in her first season of eligibility for recognition. She holds a 3.78 GPA in cyber security to line up perfectly with her consistent production in the jump pits for the Roadrunners. She has appeared twice on the UTSA Honor Roll, once on UTSA Dean’s List and once on UTSA President’s List, was named to the AAC All-Academic Team last year and is set to repeat the AAC honor ahead of her pending second USTFCCCA All-Academic Team selection.
Following this year’s outdoor season, Breigan earned silver at the European Athletics Team Championships Second Division in Maribor, Slovenia on June 28. She is scheduled to jump for Norway in the European Athletics U23 Championships on Saturday morning in Bergen Norway.
The indoor (6.58m/21-7.25) and outdoor (6.74m/22-1.5) long jump record-holder at UTSA, Breigan has also captured the Norwegian and American Athletic Conference indoor standards in her short career. Earning both the AAC’s Indoor and Outdoor Championships’ Most Outstanding Performance honors in 2025, Breigan swept the indoor and outdoor conference titles this season, following up an indoor crown and outdoor silver as a rookie in 2024. She also anchored the women’s 4x400m relay to indoor and outdoor runner-up finishes this season, producing the UTSA indoor record (3:36.32) and outdoor No. 2 marks (3:34.77). Her conference performances pushed 18 points in each meet this season toward UTSA’s second-place indoor and third-place outdoor totals.
At the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, Breigan registered her third All-America certificate with second-team recognition via her 10th-place jump of 6.35m (20-10). She competed in her second NCAA Outdoor West First Round this spring in both the long jump and as anchor to UTSA’s 4x400m relay. Last season, she swept the AAC’s Freshman of the Year awards, earning Indoor First Team All-America (6th place - 6.38m/20-11.25) as the first UTSA true freshman to earn that accolade and Outdoor First Team All-America (8th place - 6.40m/21-0). Through two years of her UTSA career, Breigan has racked up 14 event victories, four all-conference accolades and six AAC Field Athlete of the Week awards. Last season, Breigan also won UTSA’s Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year and Female Newcomer of the Year awards.
