UTSA trio named CSC Academic All-District

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women’s golf program has placed a trio of student-athletes on the 2025 Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Team, as Maria Bastarrica, Morgan Ellison and Olivia Williams were honored on Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.

This marks the third straight year that Ellison has earned a spot on the team. Williams collected her second career accolade, while Bastarrica landed on the squad for the first time.

Bastarrica boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as an economics and finance double major. A rising junior from San Sebastian, Spain, she is a Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar and a member of the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. She played in all 10 events in 2024-25 and posted a 77.27 stroke average over 30 rounds. Her top finish was a tie for 25th at the Diane Thomason Invitational, while her best 54-hole total was a 222 (71-74-77), which led to a 26th-place showing at the Red Raider Invitational.

Ellison earned her bachelor’s degree in finance with a 3.95 GPA. The Peachtree City, Georgia, native has been named a WGCA All-America Scholar twice and she was chosen for the AAC All-Academic Team in 2023-24. A two-time Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal recipient and Honor Roll member, she appeared in all 10 tournaments this past season and ranked second on the squad with a 74.1 stroke average. She logged seven par-or-better scorecards and registered her best finish when she tied for eighth at the Coach Mo Classic. She tied for 15th with a 221 (73-75-73) at the conference tournament and turned in a season-best 216 at both the Jim West Challenge (72-72-72) and Chevron Collegiate (70-75-71).

Williams, a native of Worcestershire, England, carries a 3.59 GPA as a psychology major as she enters her senior season. She is a WGCA All-America Scholar and AAC All-Academic Team selection, and she was a 2022-23 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll member. She played in all 10 events this past season, recording a 75.47 stroke average and four par-or-better scorecards over 30 rounds. She turned in her top 54-hole total of even-par 216 (74-71-71) at the Chevron Collegiate, while her best finish was a fifth-place showing at the Diane Thomason Invitational.

To be considered for the CSC Academic All-District Teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and compete in 70 percent of the institution's contests.
