Pace earns another AAC Athlete of the Week honor

IRVING, Texas – Senior triple jumper Rachela Pace has been recognized once again this week by officials from the American Athletic Conference, the league naming her Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. This also marks the fifth weekly award for the Roadrunners this outdoor season.

A first-year transfer from Fresno State, Pace (Dingli, Malta) recorded a new outdoor career-best measurement at Texas A&M's Alumni Muster, moving up to 11th in the nation in the triple jump with a 13.29m (43-7.25) leap on her second attempt. Pace also recorded a wind-legal 13.26m (43-6) measurement on her last jump of the final, tying her own Maltese outdoor national record. For her efforts, Pace earned the gold medal in College Station and raised the profile on her existing No. 2 entry into the all-time UTSA performances chart, as well as her standing lead atop the American Athletic Conference.

This honor from the final week of the regular season brings UTSA’s two-year total to seven overall UTSA outdoor AAC accolades and is the 12th for either indoor/outdoor season for UTSA since the program joined The American before the 2023-24 school year.

With a week off for preparation following the final competition of the regular season, UTSA will go back to work in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, May 15-17 at Irwin Belk Track. The UTSA women’s team finished as runner-up at the Indoor Championships with a score of 92.5 points.
