UTSA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Announces Executive Board for 2025-26

by Sean Cartell

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on Wednesday announced its 2025-26 Executive Board. Elected by their peers, the SAAC officers represent their respective sports on campus and at both the conference and national levels.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes’ lives on the campuses of NCAA member institutions.

“This group of officers represents a passionate group of leaders who are committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience at UTSA,” said Stefanie Cisneros, Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development. “I’m excited to support them as they use their voices to lead, advocate and make a meaningful impact on our campus.”

The 2025-26 UTSA SAAC President is women’s golfer Lauren Rios. Rios, a senior Coppell, Texas, native, served as the Vice President and Social Media Chair last year. She is a medical humanities major in UTSA’s College of Liberal and Fine Arts and was a member of the 2023-24 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. Her story of perseverance is well known, as she had heart surgery at 16 years old after doctors discovered an atrial septal defect – a hole in the wall between the two upper chambers of her heart. Rios played in all five spring tournaments for the Roadrunners this past year. Rios and women’s basketball standout Idara Udo are UTSA’s representatives to the American Athletic Conference SAAC.

The Vice President is soccer player Michelle Polo. Polo is a junior midfielder from Magnolia, Texas, who is majoring in nutrition in UTSA’s College for Health, Community and Policy. She has played in 28 career matches for the Roadrunners with 14 starts. She was a member of the 2023-24 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
