Roadrunners add JUCO All-American Moss for 2025-26

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men’s basketball coach Austin Claunch announced on Wednesday the third transfer signee for the Roadrunners’ 2024-25 roster, announcing the addition of JUCO All-American and national champion Brent Moss for Claunch’s second season in San Antonio.

“Brent is a big guard with a lot of versatility,” Claunch said. “He’s played small forward in the past and is extremely active around the rim and on defense. He’s got significant championship experience and an extremely high ceiling – with limited time playing basketball, he’s only scratched the surface of what he can do.”

Ranked at No. 36 on the JucoRecruting.com top 100, Moss comes to San Antonio following two seasons at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas, where he was named an NJCAA Division I Second Team All-American and was on the 12-man NJCAA All-Tournament Team in 2024-25. He also notched First Team Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) honors after leading the league in rebounds and ranking fourth among scorers. Moss became an NJCAA DI National Champion in 2023-24, helping Barton to a 36-1 record and an 88-73 title win over Triton College. In his sophomore season, Moss aided the Cougars to a 26-9 record and a second-round NJCAA’s finish, leading Barton in scoring and on the boards while averaging a double-double of 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game and shooting 51.4 percent from the floor, 35.6 percent from three and 78.9 percent at the line – in addition to doling out 1.8 assists per outing. During his rookie year, Moss put up 9.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest and received KJCCC/Region VI honorable mention. Following his rookie campaign, he was invited to the JUCO Advocate JA 48 Showcase, advancing to the JA 16 in Indianapolis.

Originally from Freeport, Grand Bahama, he graduated from Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio. Moving to Ohio from the Bahamas, he was not able to play during his first two years of high school, playing his senior year under Quincey Simpson for just one full season and earning 2022 Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association DI All-Ohio honorable mention, Second Team All-Northwest District DI and First Team All-TRAC after averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. He helped the 2021-22 Spartans to their fourth-straight district title and all the way to the state’s elite eight/regional final, finishing with a 25-3 record. Moss also played club basketball for C2K Elite in 2021.
