WALNUT, Calif. – Competition began for the UTSA track and field teams on Thursday night at the 65th Mt. SAC Relays, as a lone Roadrunner competed in the 3,000m steeplechase to get UTSA’s weekend started at the historical national meet in Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Starting late Thursday evening during the latter running events, senior O.J. Ruiz knocked out his second consecutive meet with a new career mark, logging a 9:24.42 for 16th place in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Competition will resume on Friday, as field events open the day with the high jump at 11 a.m. CDT and running up to the shot put at 5 p.m. CDT. Friday’s running events action will begin at 1:25 p.m. CDT on the women’s 100m hurdles preliminary, followed by the men’s 110m hurdles, leading up to the final 1,500m at 8:30 p.m. CDT. Hammer throw opens Saturday field events at 2 p.m. CDT and the meet wraps for UTSA on the invitational triple jump at 5:30 p.m. CDT.
