SAN ANTONIO – On Friday, head UTSA women's basketball coach Karen Aston officially announced the signing of point guard Jayda Holiman who transfers to UTSA following two seasons at UTRGV.

A 5-6 point guard from McAlester, Oklahoma, Holiman appeared in 34 games across two seasons with 14 starts for the Vaqueros, averaging 6.2 PPG at a 36.3% clip, while dishing out 30 assists and snagging 63 rebounds. She cracked the Western Athletic Conference All-Freshman team in the 2023-24 season after logging eight double-digit scoring games, including a career-high 17 against Seattle U on Feb. 24, 2024.
At McAlester High School, she lettered in all four years, claiming a state title and winning MVP honors in the championship game as a junior. She made the All-State squad as a senior, averaging 23.0 PPG, and was also named the 2023 McAlester News-Capital Girls Basketball Player of the Year. She got the job done in the classroom, maintaining a 3.9 GPA that saw her make the Honor Roll. Additionally, Holiman clubbed with Lady Jets Elite.
She is the daughter of Will Holiman and Crystal Brown and has three brothers, Jaylen, Adante' and Adonis. Holiman comes from a basketball family, as her father was a JUCO All-American, and two of her brothers are NCAA Division I basketball players. Adante' currently competes for Georgia Southern after a stint at UTSA, while Adonis plays for East Texas A&M.
Holiman will study kinesiology at UTSA to become an athletic trainer following a professional basketball career.

Holiman joins a 2024-25 recurring class at UTSA that includes Sema Udo, Sanaa Bean, and Adriana Robles.
