SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team suffered an 8-0 defeat at the hands of UAB in an American Conference series finale on Sunday at Roadrunner Field.
The Roadrunners (16-25, 3-15 The American) fell to the Blazers (19-23, 8-10), with freshman Ava Eldridge (5-6) taking the loss and Caroline McLendon earning the win (8-7). Offensively, senior Crislyne Moreno, classmate Lindsey Davis, and junior Madison Hornback each posted hits in the effort.
UAB exploded for seven runs in the top of the third and added another in the seventh to build an 8-0 lead that the 'Runners were unable to recover from.
UTSA will now turn its attention toward Texas State with a Tuesday contest set to begin at 4 p.m. inside Roadrunner Field. The 'quads will first resume a contest from Mar. 26 at Bobcat Stadium that was halted in the top of the fifth before playing the day's regularly scheduled game.
