SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team will visit Prairie View A&M for a Tuesday afternoon nonconference matchup set for 2 p.m. at the Lady Panthers Softball Stadium.
The Roadrunners (14-19, 2-10 The American) will look to snap a four-game skid after falling to No. 22 Florida Atlantic in a trio of league contests last time out.
The Panthers (16-13, 10-1 SWAC), meanwhile, have won six straight, with their last loss coming at the hands of Tarleton on Mar. 18. They swept Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Alcorn State to work a 10-1 record in conference play, and they sit 5-3 at home.
PVAMU is dominant on the basepaths, swiping 3.55 stolen bases a game for the second-most in the NCAA; they also ranked sixth in total stolen bases at 103 and are sixth in sacrifice flies, logging 20 on the season. The speedy squad checks in at 26th and leads the SWAC with 11 triples, while six shutouts also lead their conference.
Aerin Talley has played a significant role in the squad’s success, with four three-baggers slotting her 20th on the national leader board and three sac flies sitting 52nd. Kearstin Tinsley has swiped 24 steals for the club, which ranks 12th across the country.
Reagan Green paces the Panthers with a .345 batting average, and Tinsley is not far behind at .333. In the circle, the staff boasts a 5.10 ERA, and Brielle Moreno and Cailin Massey top the team with six wins apiece. Additionally, Hailey Elizarraras has gone 3-0
