SAN ANTONIO — UTSA picks up its second American Athletic Conference Series win by defeating Florida Atlantic 7-3 on Saturday, Mar. 29, at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio, Texas.

Florida Atlantic took an early lead as they were able to score one run in the top of the first on a throwing error. They then extended their lead in the third on a two-run homer.
In the fourth inning, Drew Detlefsen hit his seventh homer of the year on a solo homer to left field. The Roadrunners kept rolling into the fifth inning as Ty Hodge led the inning off with a double, Jordan Ballin then walked to put two runners on. Nathan Hodge was able to load the bases on a bunt single. Caden Miller then brought in the Roadrunners’ second run of the game on a sacrifice fly to left field.
In the seventh, Ballin led off the inning with a single and was able to reach second on a throwing error. N. Hodge then hit another bunt single to advance Ballin to third. Miller was able to tie the game at 3-3 on a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Ballin. With N. Hodge still on first, Mason Lytle hit a single to advance him to second. Detlefsen stepped up to the plate and hit another homer to left field, this time scoring three runs, putting the Roadrunners up 6-3 for their first lead of the game.
N. Hodge reached on a walk in the eighth inning before stealing second. Ballin advanced T. Hodge to third on a ground out that bounced off the pitcher into the second baseman’s hands. N. Hodge was able to drive in his brother T. Hodge with a single up the middle to give UTSA a 7-3 lead.
UTSA’s bullpen shined in tonight’s game as Christian Okerholm was the first out of the pen throwing 2.2 innings pitched giving up just three hits and no runs. Connor Kelley threw 1.1 innings not allowing a single hit with two strikeouts en route to the win. Robert Orloski threw for his second game in a row this time just one inning not allowing a hit or a run.

- Okerholm threw 2.2 innings which ties his longest outing he set against Youngstown State on Mar. 1.
- Kelley picked up his first collegiate win.
- Detlefsen now has 12 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI games.
- Andrew Stucky went 2-for-3 for his eighth multi-hit game of the season.
- N. Hodge picked up his sixth multi-hit game of the season and second three-hit game.
