Lien ties record, relays produce strong showing on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO – This weekend’s competitions wrapped up at two sites on Saturday for UTSA track and field at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos. The Roadrunners came away with a gold-medal school record-tying performance from Mia Lien and both relays in Austin delivered top 10 finishes.

At the Texas State Track & Field complex on Saturday, Jakobsli, Norway redshirt freshman Lien reached a new outdoor career best in the high jump, rising to a 1.82m (5-11.5) to not only win the event by .03m but also tying sophomore Edlin Laur’s 2024 mark atop the UTSA outdoor records. As of Saturday, her new height lists as the No. 3 mark in NCAA DI. Also making her mark at the Bobcat Invite, Laur (Tallinn, Estonia) reached 1.71m (5-7.25) to tie for fourth place in the event for the 29th-best mark in the nation.

In Austin, the women’s 4x200m relay of Kiah Dubarry-Gay, Ibiso David-West, Ida Breigan, Thennelle Williams got the day started for the Roadrunners, producing a seventh-place combined time of 1:36.26 among the nationally elite field - coming in fifth among collegiate teams. The men’s quartet of Mike Roth, Martín Kouyoumdjian, Hugo Menin and Matthew Mills followed in the 4x400m University final, registering a 3:07.25 for fourth place and the third-fastest event time in UTSA history. As of Saturday, the Roadrunners’ clocking moves up to the fifth-fastest time in the nation.

Next on the schedule for the Roadrunners is an April 11-12 trip to College Station for Texas A&M’s 44 Farms Team Invitational at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
