SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team is set to host Wichita State in American Athletic Conference action this weekend, with a trio of games on the docket at Roadrunner Field. Competition will begin on Friday at 6 p.m. on Taylor Swift Night, and Saturday’s contest at 2 p.m. will serve as Greek Day. The series concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m., and the game will be themed around Bark at the Park.
The Roadrunners (13-14, 1-5 The American) fell to Lipscomb via the run rule last time out and will look to bounce back this weekend against the Shockers (13-14, 2-4 The American).
For UTSA, senior Lindsey Davis, junior Katia Reyes, and sophomore Caton Letbetter provided bright spots against the Bison, each logging multiple hits. Senior Jaylen Prichard drove in a pair of runs, while redshirt freshman Makayla Madrid and Letbetter joined her in logging RBIs.
Wichita State, meanwhile, took 2-of-3 from North Texas before falling to Texas State on Wednesday.
Lauren Lucas tops The American with a .536 on-base percentage. Taylor Sedlacek joins her as a league leader, with 0.33 doubles per game and nine on the year. Lucas also tops the team in batting average at .421, as she, Sedlacek and Jodie Epperson have all launched four home runs on the season.
The Shockers maintain an ERA of 4.35 and are led by Ryley Nihart, who holds a 2.58 mark. Alex Aguilar paces the squad with six wins, as Chloe Barber and Ava Silger each twirled three victories.
