HUMBLE, Texas — Jack Wehman tied for 12th place to lead UTSA to a 15th-place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston.
Wehman carded an even-par 216 to end up in a five-way tie for 12th, notching a season-best finish in the process. After opening the 54-hole event with rounds of 71 and 74 on Monday, the senior from Austin turned in his second 1-under 71 of the week to jump 10 spots up the leaderboard during the final round. His Tuesday scorecard featured birdies on the 395-yard, par-4 first, the 588-yard, par-5 13th and the 487-yard, par-4 17th holes. He also made 13 pars on the 7,245-yard, par-72 Tournament Course to push his total to a tournament-best 43 for the event.
The 12th-place tie marked Wehman’s best finish since posting back-to-back top 10s in February 2024 at the Bentwater Invitational (T-8th) and Dorado Beach Collegiate (T-5th). His previous top showing in 2024-25 was a tie for 32nd at the Desert Intercollegiate last month in California.
Logan Vargas was the next-highest finisher for the Roadrunners, earning a share of 51st with a 226. The junior from Lubbock registered an even-par 72 in Monday morning’s opening round and then followed with a 75 that afternoon and a 79 for the final 18.
Walker Franklin (75-76-79—230) and Logan Zurn (74-77-79—230) both ended up as part of a tie for 59th to round out the lineup.
In the team race, UTSA finished with a 902 (292-302-308), 11 strokes ahead of Yale and a dozen shots out of the top 10.
Houston captured the team title with an 844, followed by Troy (853) and TCU (861) in the top three.
Troy’s Jake Springer claimed the individual crown with a 7-under 209 (70-69-70).
A pair of Roadrunners played in the All-American Individual on the Member Course (par 72/7,508 yards).
Brayden Bare fired a 1-under 71 in the final round on the strength of four birdies to move up 10 places into a tie for sixth (222). The redshirt sophomore from Waco opened the event with a 78 and then posted a 1-over 73 on Monday afternoon in round two before matching his season-best score today.
After opening with a 76-77—153, junior transfer Jacob King posted a 75 behind a trio of birdies to also jump 10 spots into a tie for 16th (228).
The Roadrunners will return to the course on April 12-13 at The Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas.
