Wehman leads Roadrunners on Monday at All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, Texas — Jack Wehman is in the top 25 individuals and UTSA is in 14th place after the first day of the All-American Intercollegiate, which teed off Monday at the Golf Club of Houston.

Wehman has a share of 22nd place at 1-over par after posting rounds of 71 and 74 on the 7,245-yard, par-72 Tournament Course. The senior from Austin opened the 54-hole event with a bogey-free scorecard that was highlighted by a birdie on the 173-yard, par-3 seventh hole. He followed with a 2-over round in the afternoon that included birdies on the 335-yard, par-4 12th and the 215-yard, par-3 14th holes.

Logan Vargas is tied for 36th at 3-over par. The junior transfer from Lubbock carded an even-par 72 in the morning with the help of a trio of birdies before turning in a 75 in round two that featured circled numbers on the both par threes on the back nine.

Walker Franklin and Logan Zurn are part of a tie for 56th at 7-over par. Franklin, a senior from Colorado, used a pair of birdies to help him post a 75 in the morning and then added two more birdies as part of a 76 in round two. Zurn, a junior who hails from Grapevine, Texas, started his week with a 2-over 72 on the strength of 15 pars and a birdie on No. 3 before settling for a 77 in the afternoon.

The Roadrunners are in 14th in the team race with a 594 (292-302), one shot behind North Texas and only three strokes out of the top 10.

Houston leads the team standings with a 555, followed by Troy (565), Southern Miss (571), TCU (573) and 16th-ranked UNLV (575).

Houston’s Chi Chun Chen is the individual leader at 9-under 135 (69-66).

A pair of Roadrunners took to the Member Course (par 72/7,508 yards) for the All-American Individual being held in conjunction with the team event. Brayden Bare is in a tie for 16th place (+7), as the redshirt sophomore from Waco opened the day with a 78 and then posted a 1-over 73 that featured four birdies, including three during a four-hole stretch as part of a 2-under 35 on the front nine. Junior transfer Jacob King is two shots behind his teammate in tie for 26th (76-77—153).

The final round of both competitions will be contested on Tuesday.
