SAN ANTONIO — The Roadrunners swept UTRGV 7-0 on Tuesday, Mar. 18 at the UTSA Tennis Center in San Antonio, Texas.
UTSA is now 16-2 overall with an 8-1 home record, 8-0 road record and 0-1 neutral record. The Roadrunners’ only two losses have come against American Athletic Conference Opponents.
Picking up six singles wins on the day UTSA improves to 64-22 on the year. With two doubles wins the Roadrunners are now 30-15. Arina Babenko leads the team in singles victories as she is a perfect 15-0 on the year.
Match 18
To start the day, Letizia Corsini and Ekua Youri took down their opponents in fast fashion 6-1 on No. 1. To secure the doubles point, Natalia Castaneda Guerrero and Aoka Nagasawa won on No. 3 6-4 to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead.
Corsini went to work in singles play as she defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2. Shortly after, Babenko won on No. 4 6-1, 6-3 to put UTSA up 3-0. Securing the match win for the Roadrunners was Youri as she won on No. 1 6-4, 6-3.
At No. 3, Vittoria Baccino picked up the 6-1, 6-4 win over her opponent. On No. 6 Nagasawa took down Valentina Urraco 6-4, 6-1. To complete the sweep over UTRGV Castaneda won 6-2, 6-4 on No. 5.
