UTSA boosts multi-events with Norwegian champion Sunniva Indahl

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA Director Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Tuesday another multi-event addition for the Roadrunners, adding Norwegian national champion Sunniva Indahl to the UTSA 2025-26 roster.

"We couldn’t be more excited to welcome another Norwegian talent to our squad with a decorated record and a diverse set of events to bolster our multi-events group," Fox said. "It will be exciting to get Sunniva on campus to start working toward her academic goals and build on her strong multi-event foundation."

Hailing from Siggerud, Norway, Indahl is a proven competitor on the championship stage, earning nine national titles over the past two seasons. Highlighting her multi-event performances, Indahl registered a career-best 5,183 heptathlon points at the Swedish U20 Combined Events Championships in Kil, Sweden in July 2024, topping the field by a 140-point margin. She also recorded a third-place finish at the 2024 Norwegian U20 Combined Events Championship in the heptathlon. Registering a pentathlon score of 3,863, she also won the Norwegian U20 Indoor Combined Events Championships in Bærum in January 2024, placing third at the all-classes 2025 Norwegian Indoor Combined Events Championships, also in Bærum.

Indahl is also a proven performer in the individual events. Topping out at 6.07m (19-11), she earned a meet-winning long jump finish at the 2024 Norwegian U20 Championship in Bodø, won the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best 13.72 clocking and placed third in the 100-meter with a top time of 12.21. She also collected long jump silver at the Norwegian U20 Indoor Championships in Ulsteinvik in February 2025, while winning the high jump. At the all-classes 2025 Norwegian Indoor Championships Indahl registered a sixth-place finish in the long jump. She also earned second in the 60-meter hurdles at the U20 Indoors with a time of 8.64 in March of this year, but cut as low as 8.57 seconds at Tyrvinglekene inne in February 2024. Indahl went on a winning spree at the 2024 Norwegian U20 Indoor Championships in Sandnes in March, topping the 200-meter, long jump, 60-meter (on a career-best 7.73) and high jump, while at the all-classes 2024 Norwegian Indoor Championships, she earned fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, fourth in the long jump and sixth in the 60-meter. At the 2024 Nordic U20 Match & Championships in Tårnby, Denmark she finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, was third in long jump and helped Norway’s 4x100-meter relay to a second-place finish.

In addition, Indahl represented Norway at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
