HUNTSVILLE, Texas — The Roadrunners continue their undefeated streak alive, beating Sam Houston 4-0 on Friday, Feb. 7 in Huntsville, Texas at the Chuck & Wanda Beckner Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners are now 8-0 to open the 2025 season and 5-0 on the road. In the eight matches played, UTSA has outscored their opponents by a combined score of 38-4. In singles play, the Roadrunners are 28-3 in singles and 14-4 in doubles.
UTSA will stay on the road to face off against Lamer on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. in Beaumont, Texas.
Match 8
The Roadrunners managed to take the match's first point as Aoka Nagasawa and Natalia Castaneda Guerrero defeated their opponents 6-3. Ekua Youri and Valeria Sanchez clinched the doubles point for the Roadrunners as they took down their foes 6-4 to give UTSA a 1-0 lead.
To open singles play, Youri handled her opponent at No. 2, defeating her 6-2, 6-4 for Youri’s sixth singles win of the season. With the Roadrunners up 2-0, Sanchez took down her opponent 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 to give the Roadrunners a 3-0 lead.
To close out the match, giving the Roadrunners the win, Letizia Corsini beat her opponent 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1; this was Corsini’s fifth singles win of the season.
