Roadrunners return to College Station for Charlie Thomas Invite

SAN ANTONIO — Just two weeks from the last competition, the UTSA men’s and women’s track and field teams will return to College Station for the second consecutive meet at the R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor track facility. The Roadrunners are taking on the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8 with 41 athletes in competition.

Led by Ida Breigan’s national No. 10 long jump of 6.50m (21-4), national top-40 performers in action this weekend include Mia Lien at 24th in the high jump at 1.80 (5-10.75), Rachela Pace at 29th in the triple jump at 12.95m (42-6) and Christiaan Le Roux at 34th in the long jump at 7.59m (24-11) among the large UTSA contingent. As an event squad ranking from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, UTSA’s women’s long jump come in at sixth nationally in the second week of rankings.

Hosted by Texas A&M at the second-year R.A. "Murray" Fasken '38 Indoor Track facility, the Charlie Thomas Invitational will get started on Friday, Feb. 7, with the women’s weight throw at 9:30 a.m. (additional field events will pick up beginning at 3 p.m.), combined events at 11 a.m. and 60-meter preliminaries beginning at 5:10 p.m. Returning to action on Saturday, Feb. 8, the day’s events will begin at 10 a.m. with the men’s weight throw (additional field events beginning at 2 p.m.) and the afternoon running events kicking off with the 3,000-meter at 1:15 p.m. A typical staple, the meet will conclude near 7 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relays.  

The Roadrunners will compete against athletes from host Texas A&M, Baylor, East Texas A&M, Houston, Mississippi State, North Texas, Oklahoma Baptist, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, UT-Arlington and West Texas College.
