SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s basketball team is set for a Saturday showdown with Wichita State, as the squads are set to meet at 1 p.m. for an American Athletic Conference bout inside Koch Arena.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, and Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (19-3, 10-1 The American) will eye their 20th win of the campaign after taking down North Texas, 54-52, on Tuesday to remain atop the conference.
Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins led the way with 26 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Idara Udo posted a double-double to the tune of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Maya Linton put in a solid shift defensively with five steals, and classmate Sidney Love scored nine to go with four rebounds and a game-sealing block.
The Shockers (8-16, 2-9 The American) snapped a seven-game skid last time out via a 54-44 routing of Florida Atlantic. UTSA and WSU met previously on Jan. 11, with Jenkins scoring 21 and Udo posting a double-double en route to a 69-51 victory.
With one of the deepest benches in the league, the Shockers score 22.8 points per game from nonstarters, good for the second-most in the conference. They also excel at limiting turnovers, averaging just 15.8 per game for the second-best mark in the league.
Jayla Murray scores 13.2 PPG to lead the team, and her 52.1% clip from the field is the third-highest in the AAC. Salese Blow joins her in the double-digit scoring clip at 11.0 RPG, and Murray also tops the team in rebounds with 5.4 RPG. Defensively, Aicha Ndour boasts 23 blocks, and KP Parr 28 steals. Additionally, nobody has logged as many assists for WSU as Taylor Jameson, who dished out 56.
