SAN ANTONIO—Under the tutelage of second-year head coach Vann Stuedeman, the UTSA softball team is set to open the 2025 campaign by hosting the UTSA Invitational. Weber State, UMass Lowell, and SIUE will all head to Roadrunner Field, and the event will span Friday through Sunday.
All UTSA games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Alex Loeb (play-by-play) alongside Cat Osterman (analyst) on Friday. Lincoln Rose (play-by-play) will then join Osterman on the call for Saturday and Sunday.
On Opening Day, the Roadrunners will face Weber State at 3:30 p.m. and SIUE at 6 p.m. Pool play will conclude on Saturday, with UTSA facing UMass Lowell at 1 p.m. before moving into bracket play that afternoon. The No. 1 seed will take on the No. 4 seed at 3:30 p.m., ahead of a battle between the No. 2 and 3 seeds at 6 p.m. The event concludes on Sunday, with a consolation game at 10:30 a.m. and the championship at 1 p.m.
The Roadrunners are coming off a 15-42 campaign, which represented a seven-win improvement in their first year under Stuedeman. Their inaugural American Athletic Conference campaign saw them finish ninth with a 5-22 mark, and in the 2025 AAC Preseason Coaches Poll, they were again picked ninth.
UTSA's roster features 11 newcomers, including five true freshmen and five transfers. Among the transfers are former McNeese State standout Crislyne Moreno and the 2024 NJCAA DI Softball Player of the Year Katia Reyes.
12 returners remain navy and orange, including two pitchers in Meredith Schmitt and Zelinda Camacho. Kalee Rochinski will be back in action behind the plate, with outfielders Lindsey Davis, Madison Lenton, Sydney McReynolds, Taryn Madlock and Aubrie Henderson remaining on the squad. Two infielders will lace up for UTSA once more, in the form of Caton Letbetter and Camryn Robillard, while two utility players, Brenna Jahn and Jaylen Prichard, are back.
Kristin Delahoussaye is entering her first season as head coach at Weber State and will look to improve upon the Wildcats' 22-28 season, which included an 8-7 record in Big Sky action. They were selected to finish fifth out of six in their preseason poll, narrowly edging out Montana to avoid the bottom spot.
UMass Lowell is coming off a 17-29 season with an 8-11 conference mark. A middle-of-the-pack squad, they were tied for fourth in the America East preseason poll, and a reloaded Riverhawk roster features eight true freshmen.
Rounding out the group, SIEU posted a 19-35 mark and a 10-17 OVC record. The Ohio Valley Conference coaches slotted the Cougars eighth of 10 teams in their preseason poll, and they chose returner Lauren Ysalva as a 2025 Player to Watch. The senior outfielder batted .305 last season, smashing four home runs in the process.
