SAN ANTONIO — The Roadrunners take down Houston Christian 12-1 in seven innings for their sixth win of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio, Texas.

James Hubbard got his second start on the mound for the Roadrunners and came out firing on all cylinders as he struck out the first three batters he saw. He continued his dominance for four more innings only giving up three hits and one run but struck seven batters.
In the bottom of the second, the Roadrunners took a quick six-run lead. The inning started with a single by Ty Hodge in the eighth hole, batting ninth Broc Parmer walked in a seven-pitch at-bat. The leadoff hitter, Caden Miller then got his first triple of the season to score both T. Hodge and Parmer.
Mason Lytle got his second hit of the day, a single to right center to score Miller. After two defensive mistakes, Norris McClure and Lorenzo Morresi found themselves on base. Drew Detlefsen then hit a towering three-run home run to deep center field to give the Roadrunners a 6-0 lead.
In the third inning, T. Hodge got the bats going once again on a single, which advanced Jordan Ballin, who got on via a walk. Down to their final out of the inning, Lytle singled up the middle for his second RBI of the day to score Ballin.
HCU managed to drive in their only run of the ball game in the fifth inning. Left-handed pitcher Jake Cothran came into relief in the sixth to make his second appearance, he pitched just one inning, giving up one hit and struck out two HCU hitters.
After going scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings, the Roadrunners threatened again with back-to-back walks by Norris McClure and Morresi. Head coach Pat Hallmark put on a double steal to put both McClure and Morresi into scoring position. Detlefsen came up to bat and delivered another three-run homer to deep center field to give the Roadrunners a nine-run lead.
Connor Kelley made his second appearance of the season, coming in to pitch one inning, Kelley gave up just one hit and one walk in his outing striking out one batter.
In the bottom of the seventh, Parmer got his first hit of the season on a single up the middle to start the inning. Miller then walked to put two runners on the base paths for UTSA. Whitt Joyce was then called on to pinch hit for Morresi, Joyce then delivered a game-ending triple to center field that scored Miller and Parmer to give UTSA a 12-1 victory over the Huskies.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Roadrunners have now outscored their opponents 53-7 in the past five games.
- The Roadrunners are now 5-0 at home.
- Detlefsen is the first Roadrunner to record two home runs in the same game this season.
- Detlefsen had six RBIs on the night, which is a season-high for the Roadrunners.
- Lytle picked up his sixth multi-hit game with a 3-for-5 outing and his third multi-RBI game with two on the night.
- Miller now has three multi-RBI games after driving in two runs with his triple in the second.
