UTSA falls to (RV) Baylor

WACO, Texas — The Roadrunners fall in mid-week match up, 5-0, to (RV) Baylor on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Baylor Ballpark in Waco, Texas.

THE BASICS:

James Hubbard was UTSA’s starting pitcher in this mid-week game. Baylor started the game off with two doubles in the first inning to score the first run of the game.

In the bottom of the third, the Bears extended their lead to three on a two-run home run with Jake Cothran on the mound. Baylor managed to add another run in the bottom of the fourth on a throwing error. In the sixth, Baylor went up five runs on an RBI single.

Kendall Dove came into the game in the bottom of the sixth, going through the eight innings, going 1.1 innings pitched, giving up just one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Connor Kelley came into the game in the eighth to finish out the game; he only saw three batters, striking out one.

At the plate, both Mason Lytle and Ty Hodge recorded two hits, all four were singles. Drew Detlefsen got his second double of the season in the first inning. Andrew Stucky, Whitt Joyce and Caden Miller all had a hit.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
-True Freshmen Nathan Hodge and Mason Jacob both made their first starts in their collegiate career.
-Mason Lytle had his third multi-hit game of the season, and Tye Odom racked up his first.
-Lytle has recorded a hit in each of the four games for UTSA.
