SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team will face off with Memphis on Saturday, with tipoff set for 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center. The game will be a Valentine's Day celebration and a Salute to First Responders presented by Wendy's. As a part of the festivities, fans can receive a free T-shirt upon entry while supplies last.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Karl Schoening (play-by-play), Carlie Heineman (analyst) and Taylor Guajardo (reporter) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (21-3, 12-1 The American) eye a 13th American Athletic Conference victory, a win that would secure a double-bye in the conference tournament. UTSA would also have their 22nd win on the season, moving them into sole possession of the third-most in program history.
The 'Runners are hot off a 60-46 victory over East Carolina that allowed them to remain undefeated at home, extending their winning streak in The Convo to 14 games.
Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins led the way with 23 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Junior Sidney Love also performed well, charting 15 to go with four assists and three steals.
The Tigers (6-17, 4-8) will look to bounce back from a 97-57 defeat at the hands of North Texas and eye revenge from a 70-68 loss to UTSA earlier in the year.
Down by 11 with 3:44 remaining in the contest, The Roadrunners found a way, with clutch free throws by Jenkins and Love leading to the victory. Jenkins and sophomore Idara Udo each logged double-doubles, and Jenkins posted a squad-high 17 points.
Memphis excels from beyond the arc, boasting a 35.6% three-point percentage that tops the AAC and is 35th in the NCAA.
Alasia Smith has recorded nine double-doubles on the year for the second-most in the conference. She averages 11.6 PPG and 8.9 RPG, while Tilly Boler is third in the league with 17.7 PPG. Smith also excels defensively, with 57 steals and 28 blocks on the campaign.
