SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team will return to the Convocation Center on Saturday as they face Temple in American Athletic Conference action at 2 p.m. for Rowdy Rodeo Weekend. As a part of the festivities, fans will have the opportunity to win San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo grounds passes, and while supplies last, they can receive a foam UTSA-themed cowboy hat upon entry.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Karl Schoening (play-by-play), Carlie Heineman (analyst) and Taylor Guajardo (reporter) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (17-3, 8-1 The American) will look to bounce back after suffering a 75-63 defeat at the hands of South Florida that represented their first conference loss. Junior Cheyenne Rowe earned her first career start and performed well with 15 points and four rebounds, while classmate Sidney Love scored 14 with four assists, and graduate student Nina De Leon Negron posted nine points with six rebounds and three helpers.
The Owls (12-8, 6-3 The American) enter the contest fifth in The American standings, with UTSA and North Texas atop the league at 8-1. Temple will look to avoid dropping their third straight after narrowing falling to Tulane, 62-60, and the Mean Green, 70-67.
They lead the conference in turnover margin with an incredibly efficient 3.40 ratio, and they're second in steals per game, averaging 10. Tristen Taylor has played a major role in their success with a 2.33 assists/turnover ratio and has dished out a squad-high 77 assists. Tiarra East paces the team in points with 13.8 PPG, and Tarriyonna Gary is not far behind at 12.2 PPG. Jaleesa Molina commands the boards with 6.4 RPG, and Anissa Rivera powers the defense with 35 steals and 24 blocks.
