IRVING, Texas – Marking the inaugural American Athletic Conference weekly honor for UTSA, officials from the league office have announced that Danijal Muminovic has been named the AAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Muminovic (senior/Tuzla, Bosnia) won both his singles and double matches against UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, granting UTSA its first win and the first win of the Sasha Gozun era. With a 7-5 victory alongside partner Enzo Vargas, Muminovic clinched the doubles point topping Paolo Bonaguro and Will Roberts. He then delivered a commanding solo victory to earn the first UTSA singles point, defeating Ivo Isqueiro, 6-1, 6-4.
This is the first AAC weekly honor for the Roadrunners since joining the conference last season and also the first weekly conference honor for Muminovic – who finished last fall’s AAC Individual Championships as the conference runner-up after battling his way through the bracket despite an unseeded start.
The Roadrunners (1-1) travel up I-35 to face UT Arlington on Sunday morning, Feb. 2, at the UTA Tennis Center.
